Why the difference?
Diesel generators are significantly more fuel-efficient for higher loads.4 As shown in the chart above, a 20kVA Diesel generator consumes roughly the same amount of fuel (per hour) as two small 5kVA Petrol generators, despite providing double the total power.
How to Use
- kVA: Enter the number written on the generator (e.g., 2.5 for a small “I better pass my neighbor” or 20 for a soundproof Mikano).
- Hours: How long do you run it? (e.g., 7pm to 11pm = 4 hours).
- Price: The tool defaults to ₦1,100 (Petrol) and ₦1,300 (Diesel) based on Jan 2026 averages, but users can type over this to set their exact local price.
